teen angst!

this poem is written by my 12 year old daughter. ever since i read this i worry a lot less for her.

I dont wanna be!

I don’t wanna be some suicidal teen,

Who can’t face the world coz it’s too mean,

She thinks she has no choice but to take her life,

Coz she thinks she does not deserve to be someone’s wife.

I don’t wanna be some idiotic teen

Who drops out of school…thought it was cool,

He thought school was stupid, thought it was dumb,

Now he doesn’t have a job and lives on the streets like a bum.

I don’t wanna be some unlucky teen some girl alone in the rain

Raped and molested and now can’t bear the pain

She can’t tell anyone even her best friend,

She knows not what to do to make this nightmare end.

I don’t wanna be some wannabe teen who in depression

Turned to alcohol and smoking, cocaine and crack

He’s gone so far now

He just can’t turn back.

I don’t wanna be some ordinary teen,

I want to make a difference and fulfill my dream,

Using drugs I won’t be caught dead,

And given the choice I’ll first use my head.
